About UMIT

Universitas Negeri Malang Integration Survey Technology (UMIT)
“Measuring Progress, Empowering Change, Sustainable Futures”

UMIT (Universitas Negeri Malang Integration Survey Technology) is a global measurement platform developed to support the systematic assessment, monitoring, and analysis of sustainable development implementation across countries and institutional contexts. The platform leverages Big Data technology as its core infrastructure for collecting, processing, and analyzing large-scale data, enabling objective, evidence-based insights into progress, challenges, and opportunities related to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through a large-scale, data-driven approach, UMIT is designed to serve as a strategic reference for policymakers, academics, researchers, and the international community. The global survey results generated by UMIT aim to strengthen commitments to sustainability, support informed decision-making, and promote inclusive, long-term sustainable futures.

UMIT Survey Platform

The UMIT application is a template-based survey platform designed to provide structured services for survey distribution and centralized data collection. The primary objective of this platform is to establish a standardized survey system that operates using fixed questionnaire templates.

These templates are created and managed by administrators and are locked to ensure consistency, validity, and reliability of data. Users are not permitted to modify the templates; instead, they may select from available templates to create and distribute surveys. All responses submitted by participants are automatically collected and stored in a centralized database, enabling integrated analysis and reporting.

User Roles and Functions

To support an effective and well-structured workflow, the UMIT platform is designed around four main user roles, each with distinct responsibilities:

  1. Admin: Responsible for creating, managing, and securing fixed questionnaire templates. Administrators have full access to monitor all surveys conducted on the platform and to view aggregated data from all users.
  2. Instrument Creator: Tasked with designing and developing survey instruments and schemas that will later be converted into standardized templates. These instruments can then be used by researchers for survey deployment.
  3. Researcher: Users who register to conduct surveys by selecting one of the available templates. Researchers receive a unique survey code to distribute to respondents and have access to view statistics and results related only to their own surveys.
  4. Respondent: Individuals who participate by completing the questionnaire via a survey link or unique code provided by the researcher. All responses are automatically saved in the platform’s database for further analysis.
